I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Preface
Twelve years ago, ASTD asked me to write the original Leadership Training book to help trainers jumpstart their leadership programs. Because the time had come to modernize the book and offer a more blended delivery, six months ago Cat Russo, friend, editor, and new publishing leader, invited me to participate in this rewrite and innovative delivery project. To build the first book, I used my book IT Leadership Alchemy as the base. Through that competency research and many IT Leadership Academies I became convinced of two things:
• Leadership is the same for all disciplines. It has to do with people, not functional skills.
• Anyone can be a leader by starting with strengths and then influencing others to fill in the holes.
