The Essence of the Key Project Management Concepts
This chapter presents the key concepts underlying modern project management principles and practices and conveys an understanding of their objectives.
The important characteristics of projects are described, and the differences between projectdriven and project-dependent organizations are discussed.
A note about terminology: To avoid the repetitious use of “project and program” we will generally use the word “project” in the remainder of this book, since the concepts discussed are applicable to both of these complex efforts.
Where differences are important they will be identified.
Operations and Projects require different management methods.
