Project Management Offices (PMOs)
One milestone marking the maturity of an organization in project management (see Chapter 8) is its establishment of a home (or homes) for the project management function—project management offices (PMOs)—at appropriate levels reporting to appropriate senior executives.
The existence of such offices under a manager or director of project management is a significant indicator of where an organization stands regarding its capability and maturity in this important management discipline (Archibald, 2003, pp. 89–90 and 149–156).
