Positioning—End of the Lifecycle and Potential Risks

For clarity, the context for the term managing the exit is very specific: ending of the current contract. This does not necessarily mean that the relationship with the supplier has ended, as, for example, the outcome could be that the same supplier is reengaged for a further period on a new contract. Alternatively, it could involve the termination of the relationship with the current supplier. There are a range of possible exit situations, and these are explained fully later in this chapter.
