Reagan—Goodwill to the Rescue

Franz Kafka wrote: “It is impossible to defend oneself in the absence of goodwill.” The power of goodwill is sometimes overlooked or undervalued when managing an issue. It is the “get of jail free” card that allows you to move on from mistakes and maintain a high level of support. Ronald Reagan would leverage the goodwill he had built during his presidency to manage a potentially disastrous crisis.
