Wild Cards Are Just That

I call them wild cards for a reason. In poker, a wild card can have any value, and it’s hard to know how it will help until you see the hand you’re dealt. In fact, you sometimes don’t even know whether a wild card will help at all until you know the situation you’re in.

Think about the little men in our story. At first, our hero wasn’t sure whether they were going to help him out or eat him for dinner. I notice that this is also true of modern wild cards. Think about that wacky guy down the hall whom everybody thinks is probably kind of brilliant but has a reputation for being the biggest curmudgeon or the flakiest dreamer in the organization.
