A New Team Leadership Model
Introduction
The following chapters give an overview of the most relevant ideas and examples that emerged from our interviews with coaches of professional sports teams. We’ve taken quotes and anecdotes from these coaches to illustrate each variable that we discuss.
The aim of our interviews was to find answers to the following key questions:
- What functions do professional sports coaches carry out to impact team performance?
- Which specific practices and behaviors do coaches enact and how do they do so for the specific purpose of enhancing individual and team motivation?
