In this chapter we'll explore the relationship between the coach and the team in a sports context, specifically focusing on the coach's role in motivating team members.

A key component of team leadership is team coaching—that is, “direct interaction with a team intended to help make coordinated and task-appropriate use of their collective resources in accomplishing the team's work.”1
