In the preceding section and indeed throughout this book, we encourage you to be mindful of maintaining a dynamic tension between the opposing competencies of the model. It is certainly true that over time and across multiple situations we believe you will find greatest success by managing your behavior such that you operate near the midrange on each competency (neither overdoing nor underdoing consistently).
