Lay leaders in churches are held to a different standard than their counterparts in business, or at least should be. Everything in church life is inherently emotional. Churches are dealing with the biggest issues: birth, death, whether there is an afterlife, and the meaning of life. Churches help to bind us both to the past and to the future.
