TEN CULTURAL CLUSTERS

I’ve compiled the norms for the cultural values of the ten largest cultural clusters in the world. These are what appear in the cultural value dimension tables in Chapter 5. Each of these clusters has similar patterns of thinking and behavior. All of the typical cautions about stereotyping apply here. You can’t fully categorize the entire world into ten large groups, but these provide a good starting point for seeing one’s self in light of the dominant norms. The countries listed with each cluster are examples of where large populations of that cluster can be found.
