This chapter delves into Design Thinking, an approach for creative problem solving which shares many of the methods and tools of Lean Six Sigma, Agile and Design for Six Sigma. Although Design Thinking feels like the new kid (or methodology) on the block, work to “scientize design” and understand the methods used by prominent designers began in the 1960s. It is now becoming well embedded in the business world.

As with Lean Six Sigma, there are a number of steps involved: Understand; Observe; Redefine the problem; Ideate; Prototype; and Test. We give you a summary in this chapter.
