Running Code on an iOS Device

Developing for iOS is many things: challenging, fun, rewarding, and exciting. One thing it is not is free. To begin, doing any legitimate iOS development requires using Mac OS X, which requires a Mac to be compliant with Apple’s license agreement. Once you have a Mac, you can download Xcode for free from the Mac App Store. Using the free version of Xcode, you can write iOS apps to your heart’s content and run them in the iOS Simulator. To run your apps on an iOS device, however, you need to be a member of the iOS Developer Program.
