Working with Script Triggers10

Introduction

Perhaps the most long-requested feature for FileMaker is script triggers. Well, we’ve already seen that you can trigger scripts by clicking a button, using the Scripts menu, or running one when you open or close a file. FileMaker 10 introduces 12 ways to trigger scripts. These are broken down into five object-based and seven layout-based triggers. Because the events that trigger them are relatively passive compared to clicking a button, they may seem to happen as if by magic.

A related feature new for FMP10 is the Install OnTimer script step, which can make scripts operate in the background as invisibly as the script triggers. Both of these features will do away with some of the plug-ins ...
