Working with External Data Sources

Introduction

For some time FileMaker has provided tools to help users work with data from other sources. FileMaker 9 opened up many ODBC data sources in a revolutionary new way—from within our own databases! And now that Bento is part of the Macintosh culture there have been requests to get that data into FileMaker.

My thanks to Beverly Voth from Tier3 Data & Web in London, Kentucky, who put some test files on a remote server for developers to use so I didn’t have to learn some other database system in order to tell you how this great feature works.
