Constructing headers and footers

Headers and footers reside at the top (header) or at the bottom (footer) of worksheets in Excel. The content of headers and footers usually consists of page numbers, worksheet or workbook titles, author names, the creation date of the workbook, the date the workbook was updated, or text a user enters to describe the workbook.

Headers and footers do not display in Normal view. Normal view is the default view of the Excel environment and is what you see when you open a workbook in Excel. Headers and footers are displayed in Page Layout view and on Preview pages (visible in Backstage view after clicking on the File tab, and choosing Print).
