Calculating area shares within a region

Calculating area shares within a certain region is another common workflow, for example, landcover shares along one specific river. Using majrivers.shp and trees.shp, we can calculate the share of wooded area in a 10,000 feet-wide strip of land along the Susitna River. Both layers are shown in the following screenshot:

Before starting, please run the Fix Geometries tool on the trees.shp layer. You will only need to do this once. I have found this layer to have several geometry errors. Search for Fix Geometries in the toolbox and fill in the tool as shown in the following screenshot: ...
