The Gertboard
While the Raspberry Pi is an impressive piece of hardware, with audio and video interfaces, Ethernet, USB, and GPIO pins, it’s not all-powerful. For example, it doesn’t have an onboard voltage regulator, making it possible to easily fry your Pi by giving it too much voltage. Nor does it have an easy way to control other circuits, such as motors that require more current than the Pi can conveniently source.
