In this lesson we will look at the principles behind using 2D concepts when creating 3D art; 2D concepts and references are the basic building blocks of generating 3D, as they provide you with the road map, giving you direction to what your object should look like. When working on video games, you are generally provided with concept art, references, or the direction to gather your own reference. Even the most abstract of video games will generally have some form of concept sketched out to give the 3D artist something to work with, even if there is a large reliance on personal creativity.
