In previous lessons we have used Autodesk® 3ds Max® software’s default scanline renderer to quickly view how our finished work will look once all lighting and effects have been applied. This process is slower than simply viewing our shadows and FX in real time in the viewport, but will allow us finer control over the final image, as well as allowing us to render out animations directly to a movie file. Though most games render in real time, 3ds Max software’s scanline render is still used for marketing images and preproduction visualization.
