Preliminaries

This book assumes basic familiarity with sequential programming. While we advise the readers to get acquainted with the Scala programming language, an understanding of a similar language, such as Java or C#, should be sufficient for reading this book. A basic familiarity with concepts in object-oriented programming, such as classes, objects, and interfaces is helpful.
