Creating the installation XML file

The first file we need to create is the installation XML file (also known as XML Manifest) which tells Joomla! all about this module when you install the extension through extension manager. This XML files describes all the files and folders used by this module, which database types it supports, and which parameters the module has. The naming standard of the installation XML file is mod_modulename.xml; in our case it will be mod_latestextensions.xml.

Create a folder called mod_latestextensions.

In this folder, create a file called mod_latestextensions.xml and add the following code, which we will take a closer look at to understand it.
