Chapter 5. Backend Component Development – Part 1

In this chapter, we are going to continue building the backend of our component we started in the previous chapter. Now that you know the basics of component development, we are going make the component com_folio a bit more useful and make it operate more like the core components.

You will learn the following:

• Adding columns to your view
• Drag-and-drop ordering
• Toolbar buttons

Adding additional fields

So far, our component is a bit useless, as it just has a single title field and doesn't really do a lot. We can make it a whole lot better by adding a few more fields to capture some more information.

Let's assume that we want to use the com_folio extension to show off some of the work we have done recently ...
