Loading other kinds of dimensions

In terms of database tables, dimensions may be represented with tables in a one-to-one relationship. This was the case of the dimensions explained so far. Despite being the common situation, this is not always the case.

A one-to-one relationship between a dimension and a dimension table is not required, but may coincidentally exist.

In real situations, we can have database tables that hold information for several dimensions, as well as dimensions that are not stored in any dimension table. In this section, you will learn a bit about these special dimensions.
