Finding Interesting Packages

A good place to look for interesting packages is the RPM Repository, http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/. Mirror sites are available for speedy access throughout North America and Europe. At the time of writing, the main site hosted 33,707 packages.

The RPM Repository uses rpm2html, a utility that automatically generates Web pages that describe a set of packages. This utility helps the site administrator keep the list of packages up to date. A related utility, rpmfind, can help you locate and download packages. Simply download the rpmfind package and install it on your system.

To use rpmfind, type a command like this one:

rpmfind --apropos borland
