The Overall Effect

In the previous chapters we took a detailed look at the individual building blocks of image design. We considered all the applications for each method and analyzed how they work. To be as explicit as possible in our discussion, we assumed that, in any given image, only one variable would change while all others remained constant. This isn’t how photographers work in practice, however; multiple design elements are usually in play at the same time, even when one particular aspect of a photo’s design tends to dominate the others.
