Mars Base Alpha, Section D, Commander’s Office September 5, 2062 at 8:15 AM (Greenwich Mean Time)
Commander Evans was standing behind his desk, back to the door, as he stared out the large window at the latest technicians arriving by rover. Another twelve specialists had just passed quarantine and were on their way to orientation in the Rec Hall. Evans looked at this watch and calculated that he still had fifteen minutes until he was scheduled to give the group a welcome speech.
Time to let her know, he thought, pressing the intercom button on his desk. “Lieutenant Raleigh, please report to the Commander’s Office.”
