Understanding the Mission Objectives
The primary mission objective can be attempted before or after any of the optional missions. However, the optional mission objectives will only be scored if the lander is successfully removed from the crater.
The primary mission objective is to free the lander. Each competitor can choose between the following two approaches to achieving that objective:
Free the Lander from the Crater by pushing or pulling it.
or
Free the Lander by placing the Battery in the battery box and firing the Grappling Gun.
In addition, there are several, optional objectives. Competitors can tackle them or not, depending on how confident they feel:
