You never know what’s going to lead to your next career. For Alan Rilla, it was reading a newspaper article in the Boston Globe about an island that needed a caretaker. He had the time to read the article while he was recovering from a broken neck, an injury he sustained after a group of prisoners threw him off a balcony. Alan was at the prison doing some of the corrections work that shaped his second career. His first career was practicing law, initially as an assistant district attorney and then in private practice.
