The Day It All Changed for You
There's a mate of mine who worked at Tesco's for about 12 years. He was involved in their management programme. The guy who trained my friend … let's call him Roger, had also been there for many years.
It was Roger's last day before retirement and one of the top brass, a director from HQ, was due to come down at 3pm and give him a proper send-off in front of all the staff.
2pm came and a call came in to the office.
“Hello Roger, it's (name withheld) from HQ here, how are you getting on?”
“Good, good.”
“… and how's the family?”
“Fine thanks.”
“Erm Roger, what it is …”
When someone says Erm … your name, followed by “what it is …” you know what is coming is more often than not shit.
