DINGO

A portrait is a drawing of the head of a human or animal that shows the subject’s face and expression. A good portrait will reveal something of the subject’s character or personality. In human portraiture, the subject often is drawn from a straight-on view. This viewpoint can be exceedingly difficult when drawing animals due to the amount of foreshortening that would be required in rendering the nose, muzzle, or beak. I prefer to use a three-quarter view, where the head of the animal is turned slightly, as I find it easier to correctly portray the length and proportions of the nose from this angle.
