Evaluation of Internships

This chapter is concerned with the evaluation of the performance of individual interns. The evaluation of an individual intern’s performance will involve consideration of several components (Buckingham, 2007):

1. Professional Issues:The professional issues involved in the intern’s performance will include:

Observance of work hours: If the intern is required to sign in and out of the workplace, this section of the performance evaluation may include a numerical report of the number of late days or—alternatively—whether the intern has met every required standard set at the beginning of the internship; for example, not more than 5% late attendance.
