As you have probably gathered, my goal in this book is not only to introduce you to every aspect of lighting, but to help you understand the “why” behind the “how.” The lighting director who understands the “why” will be able to do more creative work than someone who is simply working from formulas and diagrams. But I also realize that not everyone wants to become a master of the photon; many just want to be able to shoot competent video.
