At first sight, lists of safety precautions are a bore! They appear so restrictive, overcautious, and downright pessimistic. Extra care takes extra time. For most of us the turning point comes when we see for ourselves (or experience!) the terrifying effects of electric shock — an exploding lamp showering hot, razor-sharp glass onto the people below — a rapidly growing fire starting from cloth draped over a groundrow — a falling wrench injuring an unsuspecting stagehand below … Then these tiresome rules and regulations take on a different significance!
