How you crop a picture can make a huge difference to the way it is viewed and the strength of the composition. Some photographers prefer to crop in camera. Using this approach can be a good discipline, but it limits you to the aspect ratio of the camera frame. It is certainly a good idea to tighten the crop as you shoot, as a common mistake beginners make is to stand too far away from their subject.
