Backups |
Performing backups is a critical part of any server’s maintenance, because a production server that is not backed up is a disaster waiting to happen. Managing backups is also one of the responsibilities of the system administrator. Of course, simply performing backups isn’t the full extent of your responsibilities; you also have to periodically test the backups and ensure that they are accessible and restorable. These statements are true regardless of which underlying operating system the server is running.
