Let us survey some Windows 2000 administrative tools and commands, and then look at the corresponding material in Linux.
Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000
Many of Elsolutions' machines will run only Windows XP or Windows 2000, or they will at least present a choice to boot Windows. What management tools come into play? All Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-ins have a GUI, but there is a surprisingly large set of command-line tools, considering that Windows servers all have GUIs. Many commands have switches or parameters. A sizeable subset matches the POSIX command set that intersects with the Linux set.
