Adding a Red Hat Linux 7.1 Networked Printer
Let us retarget the printer queue we just created to be a remote printer on a Windows server for illustration. The server is sharing the printer under a UNC name. We shall link our print queue to the share, using Samba. We choose the SMB/Windows 95/NT Printer option, as shown in Figure 14-29. We must enter the binding and security information for the printer's Windows host. The server hostname and printer share name are mandatory. Much of this information is stored in a directory named for the queue in the spool directory. A magic filter calls a script that invokes smbclient to send the file to the remote printer.
