Embedded networking
Abstract
This chapter is concerned with issues of embedded networking. We begin with a review of the socket interface, the basic network mechanism in both Linux and Unix. A simple interactive client/server example is presented that shows how sockets operate within a single machine and across a network. We go on to modify the thermostat to operate across a network, and then consider how to support multiple clients.
