Any Linux sysadmin will be familiar with the dreaded maintenance required for Linux estates. In this chapter, we will discuss the various maintenance jobs that should be done when managing a Linux estate. We will look at what actual maintenance work should be done, when the maintenance jobs should be run, and how to plan maintenance to cause the least amount of downtime.
