The 1980s

By May 1980 I was formally all on my own, as we had all the complex legal agreements which had formed and united Farrell/Grimshaw out of the way. But in the end the legalities didn’t mean much, because it was like any separation, with legal and financial consequences that were gradually but inexorably ignored over the years, as we got on with life.

During the first few months of 1980 we co-existed in the offices because I had agreed that Nick and his team could stay until they had an office of their own.
