The librarian’s role as leader

Abstract:

This chapter examines the role of librarians as leaders in the world of 3.0. They will provide a new leadership that is called upon to lead and coordinate projects such as providing active links to local and citizen-initiated content, to e-resources, and to resources that have never made it to the web. More often than not, it is easier to start a project than to complete it successfully. Success depends on effective leadership and coordination. Equally, leadership is needed to organize and evaluate information existing both on and off the web, so as to link people to relevant, reliable, and immediate sources. Without such leadership, the world will function “like radios without batteries.”
