Lighting and Sound Pick-Up

Team work is an essential part of television programme making, and often compromises need to be made in order that a colleague is able to cope with problems created by lighting. Sound pick-up is an activity which can create some mutual problems. Unfortunately we cannot operate in isolation and we must be aware of the problems which lighting may create for colleagues.

With one-man operation, the lighting and sound pick-up is covered by the same person, so there shouldn’t be too much of a conflict. However when involved with larger crewing there is a need to be aware of the basic techniques of sound pick-up and how they may affect lighting.
