Dr. Michael Copass, the founder of Medic One mentioned in Chapter Five, had an inspired insight while waiting in an accident-induced traffic jam. The insight: rather than bring an injured patient to the emergency care, why not bring the emergency care and technology to the injured patient? He likewise inspired a variety of stakeholders to adopt this new approach, engaging fire departments, police departments, and other hospitals and caregivers.
