Chapter 39. Network Client Management (Topic 2.210)
This Topic focuses on the tools required for network client management . This includes client network addressing, password management, and login authentication.
This Topic contains four Objectives:
- Objective 1: DHCP Configuration
The candidate should be able to configure a DHCP server and set default options, create a subnet, and create a dynamically allocated range. This Objective includes adding a static host, setting options for a single host, and adding bootp hosts. Also included is configuration of a DHCP relay agent and reloading the DHCP server after making changes. Weight: 2.
- Objective 2: NIS Configuration
The candidate should be able to configure an NIS server and create NIS maps for major configuration files. This Objective includes configuring a system as an NIS client, setting up an NIS slave server, and configuring ability to search local files, DNS, NIS, and so on, in nsswitch.conf. Weight: 1.
- Objective 3: LDAP Configuration
The candidate should be able to configure an LDAP server. This Objective includes configuring a directory hierarchy and adding group, hosts, services, and other data to the hierarchy. Also included is importing items from LDIF files and adding items with management tools, as well as adding users to the directory and changing passwords. Weight: 2.
- Objective 4: PAM Authentication
The candidate should be able to configure PAM to support authentication via traditional /etc/passwd, shadow passwords, ...
