Macs can read and write zip compressed archives, the most popular type of compressed file format used under Windows. As you’d expect, everything is automated, but here are some tricks you can employ.
Unpacking and Creating Archives
To unpack an archive, simply double-click it. The contents will automatically be extracted to the same folder as the archive file. To create an archive, right-click a file or folder, and select the Compress option.
Setting Archive Preferences
