It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Open Transport & Network Connections
Mac OS 9 includes Open Transport, system software that enables a Mac OS computer to connect to virtually any kind of network.
Most networks use one of the following two types of cables and connectors:
LocalTalk connectors and standard telephone cables connect to the serial ports of computers and network printers. Devices are daisy-chained—linked one after another. LocalTalk is cheap and easy networking, but it is very slow.
