Infrared

Some Mac models, including many PowerBooks and the original iMac, have infrared communication capabilities. If you have one of these computers, you can use the infrared port to communicate with other computers or devices that have infrared networking capabilities, using one of the following infrared options:

  • IrDA enables you to connect to a network using infrared communication. This option is available on all Mac models with infrared capabilities.

  • IRTalk, a proprietary Apple protocol, enables you to exchange files with another Macintosh computer that that has infrared capabilities and supports IRTalk.

To set up IrDA
