Desktop Printers & the Desktop Printer Utility
When you use the Chooser to select and set up a printer, Mac OS may automatically create a desktop printer for it. As the name suggests, it appears on the desktop as a printer driver icon (Figure 68).

Mac OS 9.1 also includes a program called Desktop Printer Utility, which offers another, more flexible way to create desktop printers for PostScript printers.
