2. Using Mac OS X: An Overview

If you’re largely unfamiliar with Mac OS X, this chapter should bring you up to speed. You’ll take a basic tour of the major features in the Mac OS X Finder, Dock, and Desktop.

Even if you are familiar with Mac OS X, however, don’t be too eager to skip to the next chapter. This chapter also contains a variety of tips and technical information that even experienced Mac OS X users may not know.

It is not intended as a comprehensive overview, but rather as a selective survey of the topics that are especially relevant to troubleshooting. Later chapters will make frequent reference to topics covered here.
